Boomers are also not willing to sit back, and relax ? they are taking the world by storm and are living life fuller than you or I may ever!There was a time, not that long ago that when you divorced, or your spouse or significant other passed away you committed yourself to a life of celibacy, or at least living alone Some boomers still practice those sentiments but there is a growing population of boomers that are not willing to sit back and let their kids dictate what they can or can?t do and they certainly are not willing to live alone any longer.Consider that most people are living into their 80?s and longer ? if your spouse dies in their 50?s or 60?s there is the possibility that their partner will be along for 10, 20 or even 30 years. Some people may make the adjustment ? but it will be difficult.Increasingly more and more boomers are trading in their wheelchairs, and memberships to retirement villas for something more exciting.I?ve spoken to hot-grandmas (as they like to be called) that have forgone the rocking chair and being the stereotypical grandma to one that goes on exotic vacations, and goes scuba diving, hot-air balooning, and even snowboarding!These boomers also reject the idea of spending the remaining years alone. They are on the look out for partners that fit their lifestyle and want to have fun. However many are not willing to hit the singles bars just yet and prefer the anonymity that the Internet offers them.In recent years, there has been a marked increase in online dating services geared towards seniors meeting seniors (or boomers meeting boomers). These services boast memberships in the tens of thousands, and there are members from all over the world allowing a variety of people to choose from.With a number of companies offering services to boomers, its clear to see that this demographic is upfront and center in many companies growth strategy and as a result they are building services that will cater to this growing (or booming ? pun intended) segment of the population.

UK bookie Ladbrokes has restructured its communications team with Donal McCabe being appointed to head their global comms strategy. PR Week report that McCabe will start in January and the role will see him head up the company?s new Communications Council. It will oversee coordination with the media, investor relations, public affairs, consumer PR, internal communications and brand. Chief executive Richard Glynn stated just how important ?effective comms? were ?to Ladbrokes realizing its growth ambitions? and it?s believed to be very much a part of the company?s online relaunch.
